Mineral Savant

Phoenician Gold Metals & Minerals LLC’s Mineral Savant App

See the ground before you drive out.

Mineral Savant, the official Phoenician Gold field app, puts USGS topo and imagery maps on your phone and keeps working when the signal drops. Tag finds with GPS and photos, navigate back to any spot, and check public land records before you dig. Free to start. Go Pro for HD satellite, lidar terrain and a 3D view. Installs from your browser, no app store needed.

Pro · HD and 3D maps

Read the terrain from your phone.

HD and 3D maps are part of Pro. HD Satellite uses USDA NAIP aerial photography, sharp to zoom 19 (about 30–60 cm per pixel). HD Terrain lays USGS 1 m lidar shading over the topo map, so washes, benches and old workings stand out where a regular topo stays flat. HD Satellite + Lidar blends that lidar shading over the aerial photos, with a slider for how strong it is, so you see the ground and its shape at once. Switch to 3D on the Map tab or in Navigate to tilt and turn the ground in front of you.

The photos and the lidar line up to within a few meters, but they are often from different years, so a new road or washout can show in one and not the other. Where 1 m lidar hasn’t been flown, the app says so and the shading comes from coarser elevation data.

The free General account uses the standard USGS Topo, USGS Imagery + Topo and OpenStreetMap layers, and you can save USGS areas for offline use.

Read the ground

Follow washes and drainages, spot benches and terraces, and pick out bedrock exposures and contacts before you set foot on them.

Plan safe access

See where roads end, how steep the last stretch is, and which ridge or wash gets you in and out safely.

Scout from home

Look over a spot in 3D before you burn a tank of gas, and only drive out to the places worth the trip.

Work with no signal

With Pro, download an area with the HD layers and 3D terrain while you have signal. Out in the field, the maps, 3D view and GPS keep working.

Good to know: for 3D with no signal, download the area first with “3D terrain” ticked; anywhere else the map drops back to 2D until you reconnect. Pins, spots and claim search show in 2D, and 3D hill shapes are approximate up close. If Pro ends, the map switches back to a standard layer; HD areas you saved stay on your device for when Pro is back.

In every account

Everything a day in the field needs.

The free General account is a complete hobby kit. Everything below is included.

01

Tag finds with GPS and photos

One tap records your position, accuracy and time, plus photos and notes. Works with no signal. Your spots list builds itself as you go, with Jump to on map, Navigate and PDF or KML export.

02

Navigate to any spot

A live “you are here” map with your heading, GPS accuracy circle and a line to your target, plus a compass arrow and distance. It works offline, because GPS needs no data.

03

Verified places to dig

A hand-checked guide to free public collecting areas and paid dig sites, with what you can find, access notes, site rules and tips. Paid digs show the price and how to book. A plain-English rules screen covers where collecting is allowed.

04

Land checks you can trust

A research aid that checks public land records for your spot and its surroundings and flags closed or uncertain land. If a source can’t be reached or an answer is unclear, the spot is marked unverified, never open. Each check has a downloadable PDF report. Full land checks cover Arizona. In California and Alaska the check reads federal land records only, so spots there show as closed or unverified, never open. Everywhere else shows “Rules not yet verified here.” More regions: available soon.

05

Private land warnings

Private and trust land at your spot counts as closed. Private parcels nearby show as red outlines on the map and in Navigate, with your live distance to the boundary and an alert when you get close.

06

Private by design

Sign in with a username and PIN. What you save stays on your device in an encrypted vault, locked with your own PIN, with automatic lock. We don’t upload it. The Store is in the app, too; checkout is available soon.

Mineral Savant Pro

Go deeper when you’re ready.

Pro turns the app into a premium claim research suite, and everything you save with it stays on your device. See the ground in HD and 3D, search for the nearest land that looks open, look up mining claims at any pin, save promising parcels as targets, and keep your research in encrypted Libraries and a searchable Archive. Upgrading is seamless: everything you’ve saved stays right where it is.

Nearest open land searches up to 15 miles out, in Arizona for now. Each quarter-quarter box is scored over its whole area, not just its center, and every result gets the full land check (private and trust land, a 250 m buffer, claims by map and legal description, withdrawals, Federal Register notices and land sales) before it shows as open. Results appear one by one as each passes the full check, so the first answers show up sooner, with no checks skipped. Only a claim or closure that actually overlaps a box closes it; ones nearby or recorded only at section level show as warnings you review. National Forest land that is open to new claims shows as likely open (USFS) in its own color, with Forest Service rules noted; wilderness and withdrawn land stay closed. Boxes that are only partly open are measured on the real BLM lots and aliquots and listed separately when at least 10 acres are open (or 5 acres where a lode claim fits). Each one shows its open acres and whether a placer or a 1,500 × 600 ft lode claim fits, and the best five get the full land check at their open part. The open part is hatched on the map: a GIS estimate, not a legal boundary. Boxes that look open on the screen but haven’t had the full check yet are marked “screened open, not checked” until you tap to check them, and if a key data source is down, nothing shows as open. Distances are straight-line to the box edge; road access isn’t checked. It’s a research aid, not a guarantee that land is open.

Find Arizona’s documented minerals with Pro.

Pro puts Arizona’s documented mineral record on your phone so you can start from evidence, not guesses.

Ask Glintie Go for a mineral, gem, crystal or fossil. It searches a verified Arizona library built from USGS Mineral Resource Data System (MRDS) site records, Arizona Geological Survey reports, USGS topographic mineral maps and related sources, then lists the documented sites that match, with citations. If a mineral appears in that library, you can look it up. Thin records are labeled plainly, and when nothing matches, Glintie Go says so.

From a site, run a land check before you dig. Pro also adds USGS placer districts (the 87 historic districts from USGS Bulletin 1355), placer targeting tips, mining-claim lookup at any pin, nearest open-land search, HD satellite and lidar maps, and a 3D view so you can read the ground around a documented site before you drive out.

Everything you save stays encrypted on your device. Glintie Go and the land tools are research aids: they point to documented places and public records; they do not guarantee finds, production or that land is open.

Pro is $99.99 a month, renewing monthly, on one device at a time, with no free trial. Cancel anytime: your device returns to the free General account and your Pro data stays on it. Before you pay, open Preview Pro in the app to walk through the real Pro screens on sample data. Preview never uses live land records or your real spots.

Up and running in a minute.

  1. Open Mineral Savant. Visit app.phoeniciangoldmetals.com on your phone.
  2. Add it to your Home Screen. On iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen, then open it from there. On Android: the browser menu → Install app. It shows up as Mineral Savant.
  3. Set a device PIN. It locks the app and encrypts what you save on this phone.
  4. Create your free account. Pick a username and an account PIN. Use them to sign in on any device.
Collect responsibly. The land check is a research aid. It checks public land records and flags closed or uncertain land, but it can’t guarantee land is legally open: records lag, and new claims can be on the ground before they’re on file. Before you dig, confirm access with the land manager, look for claim posts, stick to casual-use hand tools, and leave the land as beautiful as you found it.
